Conditions for spiritual counselling.
1. Personal conversion and biblical re-birth.

Conversion is doing something; re-birth is being somet¬hing.

2 Peter 3:9b: 'He is patient with you, not wanting anyo¬ne to perish, but everyone to come to re¬pentance.'

John 3:6-7: 'Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spi¬rit gives birth to spirit. You should not be sur¬prised at my saying, you must be born again.'

2. The Lord Jesus as your own personal counsellor.

Psalm 37:5: 'Commit - your way - to the Lord - trust - in Him - and He will - do this'

3. A daily intimate friendship with Him.

Psalm 25:14a: 'The Lord confides in those who fear Him.'

1 Corinthians 15:33: 'Bad company corrupts good character.'

- Also read for you Job 29:1-4.

4. Living according to God's Word and by prayer.

Psalm 119:9,11: 'How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I have hid¬den your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.'

1 Thessalonians 5:17:
'Pray continually.' (Pray with regularity.)

5. A cleansed life

2 Corinthians 7:1: 'Since we have these promises, dear frien¬ds, let us purify ourselves from everyt¬hing that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.'

6. A life of holiness.

Holiness or purity in the first place means dedication to God and separation or isola-tion from all that makes us impu¬re.

Hebrews 10:10: 'And by that will, we have been made holy thr¬ough the sacri-fice of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.'

1 Corinthians 1:30: 'It is because of Him that you are in Ch¬rist Jesus, who has become for you wisdom from God - that is, our righteousness, holiness and re-demption.' ¬

Thessalonians 5:23: 'May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you whole. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blame¬less at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it.'

1 Peter 1:16: 'Be holy, because I am holy.'

1 Peter 3:15a: 'But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.'

Hebrews 12:14: 'Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without ho-liness no one will see the Lord.'

7. A life of obedience.

Romans 1:5: ‘Through Him and for His Name's sake, we recei¬ved grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Genti¬les to the obe-dience that comes from faith.'

2 Corinthians 10:1-6: 'We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.'

1 Peter 1:22: 'Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth.’
